10 time-saving tips for busy mompreneurs

Spread the love

Let’s face it – being a mompreneur is not by any means easy. You’re running a business, raising kids, and somehow trying to keep it all together – the laundry, dinner preps, school runs and business demands. Some days, it feels like there just aren’t enough hours to get everything done, right?

But here’s the good news: it doesn’t have to be that way. A few small changes can free up more time than you’d think. Here are 10 practical and totally doable time-saving tips to help you conquer the chaos without losing your mind.

🪻 Block Out Your Time Like a Pro

Have you ever felt like you’re spinning your wheels like a hamster but not really getting anywhere? Time blocking can change that. It’s simple: divide your day into chunks for specific tasks – work, family, even downtime – which you totally deserve. When it’s work time, focus fully on work.

As a Mom, I know how hard that can be – there’s always the temptation to squeeze in a little home cooking or mending of kids’ clothes. But if you’re going to get anything done, being completely focused is essential. And when it’s family time, put your phone down and be fully present. I made this a rule for myself and it worked wonders. Engage in conversations with your family, reqd bedtime stories and play boardgames without checking your business emails and messages. You’ll be amazed at how much calmer and more productive you feel.

🪻Prep Meals Ahead of Time

Dinner time doesn’t have to be a daily scramble. Spend an hour or two each week planning and prepping your meals. Chop veggies, portion out snacks, or even cook a few freezer-friendly meals. Not only will this save time during the week, but you’ll also avoid the dreaded “What’s for dinner?” panic at 6 PM.

🪻Stop Trying to Do It All

Here’s the truth: you don’t have to be Supermom. Let your kids fold their own clothes – even if they do it wrong. Ask your partner to help with dinner or bedtime. And when it comes to your business, don’t be afraid to delegate tasks to a virtual assistant or freelancer. You can’t pour from an empty cup, so lighten your load wherever and however you can.

🪻Automate the Boring Stuff

Why spend time on repetitive tasks when technology can handle them for you? Use scheduling tools for social media, set up autopay for bills, or let apps like Instacart or DoorDash take care of errands. Automating small tasks adds up to big time savings.

🪻Batch Your Tasks

Multitasking isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Sometimes, it can be a recipe for a major break-down. Instead, try batching similar tasks together. For example, set aside one hour for emails, another for creating content, and another for phone calls. Focusing on one type of task at a time makes you more efficient and less frazzled.

🪻Keep a Running To-Do List

Let’s be real: we all have a million things to keep track of, and it’s impossible to remember everything. Write it down! Keep a running to-do list—whether it’s on paper or an app like Trello or Notion.
I’ll give you a free pointer here: don’t overload your day, Mommy. Pick 3-5 priorities to tackle, and let the rest wait. You’ll feel accomplished without the overwhelm.

🪻Learn the Magic Word: No

Moms are natural helpers, but saying “yes” to everything isn’t sustainable or practical. Whether it’s a PTA commitment or a low-paying client project, some things just don’t fit into your schedule. Saying “no,” politely, of course, gives you more time for what really matters.

🪻Get Comfortable with Outsourcing

Hiring help isn’t lazy – it’s smart. I’ve come to realize over the past few years as a Mom, that the most important thing is getting things done well, and not getting things done myself. If I can hire someone to do some tasks so that I can excel as a Mom and Business Owner, that’s a major win. I know what it’s like to almost be on the verge of a total breakdown in the name of “I’m doing it all myself,” and it’s not worth it. Whether it’s a cleaning service, a graphic designer, or a part-time nanny, outsourcing frees up hours you can spend growing your business or just catching your breath. Remember, you don’t have to do it all alone.

🪻Master the 2-Minute Rule

Here’s a game-changer: if a task takes less than two minutes, do it immediately. It doesn’t matter how small it seems. In my experience, it’s the little things that fall between the cracks and end up completely forgotten. I can’t tell you embarrassing it is responding to a message sent by a client a whole month later because you thought, “I’ll get it to it later this evening.” Reply that email, load the dishwasher, or schedule an appointment. These little things won’t pile up if you tackle them on the spot.

🪻Last but not least, don’t skip self-care!

I know, I know – who has time for self-care? But hear me out: when you’re running on empty, everything takes longer and feels harder. Even just 10 minutes a day to meditate, stretch, or sip a cup of tea can recharge your energy and make you more productive. Trust me, you’re worth it.

In closing,  life as a mompreneur can feel like a whirlwind, but a few simple tweaks can make a world of difference. Remember, you don’t have to be perfect—you just need to keep going. You’ve got this, Mommy!
